100-Calorie Guacamole Packs

I didn’t used to like guacamole.  We never had avocado when I was growing up and then when I was out on my own and I spied it on things like my nachos I stupidly thought because it was green and mushy looking that it must be disgusting.  And then when I heard about all the fat in it I really didn’t want anything to do with the green stuff.  Well, now I am older and wiser and I love avocado.  I also know that their fat is not to be avoided– in fact it is extremely healthy fat.  I’ve also come to the conclusion that guacamole is absolutely delicious and it makes an awesome salad topper:

Here I’ve got:  salad greens, shredded carrots, cucumber slices, alfalfa sprouts, quinoa, salsa and guacamole.  Beans would be an awesome addition– chickpeas, black beans, kidney beans, pinto beans, etc.  Personally, I have chosen to take a break from beans for a while.  Have no fear though because quinoa is a complete protein.  And in my case, easier to digest.

And with the latest research telling us that we need to have some fat on our salads for maximum absorption of nutrients from the vegetables~ well, skip the oils and go for a whole food fat like avocado.

I found these 100-calorie packs of guacamole by Moe’s at BJ’s.  They come in sets of 6 and they’ve become a regular purchase and are handily stacked up in my fridge. They are so good and just the right size so that you don’t end up eating 900 calories of guacamole like I could easily do.

These are 100-calorie packs I can really dig.  Awesome, natural, healthy ingredients– unlike most 100-calorie snacks which consist of processed flour, sugar and oil and contain no redeeming nutritional value.

Check out the Moe’e website.  I had never heard of them but they are a restaurant chain.  It looks like the closest locations are in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
