Take a look at what I got from today’s Farmers Market:
Have you found one in your town? They’re not just on the weekends. Every day of the week there is someplace, somewhere in RI where you can buy fresh, locally grown produce. Take a look at Farm Fresh RI to find a farm or market near you. Enter in your zip code to find locations close by or search for a particular item to see who’s offering it. If you’re not in Rhode Island I am sure most areas have a directory for local farmers markets.
These glorious fruits and veggies came from the Wednesday afternoon market at the Exeter Library. That is the first corn, first tomato and first white eggplant I have seen this season! Look at all those colors… I just realized that I got the whole rainbow!
I get so excited having these foods in the house– get them in your kitchen too if you want to feel happy. I don’t care what you do with them– chop, slice, season, grill, roast, dip, steam, juice, blend, eat raw…. these are the nutrient powerhouses that help keep your body strong, glowing and healthy. Base your meals around them rather than eat them in small quantities. This is the meaning of a plant-based diet! It’s truly easy to eat well but step one is getting these types of foods into your house and leaving the boxes and packages of processed foods in the grocery store.
What do you think? Am I just a crazy veggie lover or can you relate?
