…what unsuccessful people are not willing to do.” ~Jeff Olson, author of The Slight Edge
That’s been my latest favorite quote. It applies to every aspect of life: finances, career, personal relationships and of course HEALTH. When I think about what differentiates my successful clients from those not seeing their desired results, this quote just about explains it all.
This could mean:
- Bundling up and getting out for your walk, even though the temps may not be ideal
- Adding a piece of fruit to your breakfast and skipping the sausage
- Ordering a large salad instead of the pasta
- Switching from white rice to brown or wild rice
- Drinking water with lemon instead of soda
- … the list is endless
We are all essentially where we are in our lives as a result of a series of our daily habits. The premise behind The Slight Edge is that every small, seemingly insignificant action we take in our day-to-day lives compounds over time– either pushing you closer to your goals or farther away.
I am a strong believer in the power of change. Small change. Realistic change. Easy, mini changes that you may not even think to bother with since the results will not show up immediately. But days turn into months which turn into years and suddenly those little changes have produced major differences!
The thing about making any changes is– they have to be easy enough to do so that you stick with them consistently. And remember, something that is easy to do is just as easy not to do. It is easy to go out for a ten minute walk, right? Of course, but it’s also easy to watch another tv program and forget about the walk. It’s what you decide to do that will give you your results. And do it consistently to see a difference. Remember: Doable and consistency are key.
Now repeat your new mantra over and over and over….
Successful people do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do.
