Snickerdoodles

Did you know that recipe testing is an official part of my job description?  I have to try new things to keep up a fresh supply of ideas for you at our visits!  My recent favorite happens to be a cookie– did you also know that desserts are my favorite type of recipe to test?

I’m not sure now which is my favorite cookie recipe, these new Snickerdoodle Cookies (Grain-Free,Egg-Free) or my old favorite Paleo Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Both are found on The Detoxinista‘s website and are similar in that they both use almond flour.  The snickerdoodles are sweetened with honey while the chocolate chip cookies have maple syrup.  For the healthy fats, the snickerdoodles call for grass-fed butter and it’s coconut oil for the chocolate chippers.

I’m not embarrassed to admit I’ve made these twice in the past week and I’m ready to make another batch.  It’s not all me though; Chris eats his fair share and he wants to bring some to work for friends so I better make this quick and get to the kitchen to do some baking.  As far as cookies go, you don’t get much healthier than these types of recipes.  Almond flour in place of typical white flour– do I need to even explain?  Always go for real, preferably grass-fed butter or coconut oil instead of “vegetable” oils, which we know aren’t even made from vegetables but are so highly refined and damaged that I don’t recommend them.  And well, honey and maple syrup– yes they are sugars but we’re only talking 1/4 cup for the whole recipe so when you break that down per cookie, it’s not bad at all.  Enjoy them and check out her website for all kinds of awesome recipes made from real-food ingredients.
