🥦 What is a Registered Dietitian?
A Registered Dietitian is a highly trained food and nutrition expert who has met stringent academic and professional requirements and must:
- Earn a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics/Nutrition with coursework approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education.
- Complete an accredited, supervised internship program at a health care facility, community agency and food service corporation.
- Pass a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
- Obtain a state license to practice MNT (Medical Nutrition Therapy).
- Complete continuing professional educational requirements to keep current with nutrition science and maintain registration.
